Ice cream is a wildly popular frozen dairy food, commonly eaten as a dessert or treat. It consists mostly of milk products, sugar, and various flavorings. Ice cream may be served by itself or with cake, pie, or other pastries. It is a key ingredient in such sweet treats as milk shakes, ice cream sodas, sundaes, and cake rolls. Ice cream can come in a wide range of flavors, although about one-third of all ice cream sold in the United States is vanilla. Ice cream isn't the only frozen dessert enjoyed by Americans. Fruit flavored popsicles, chocolate fudgesicles, sherbet, sorbets, and frozen yogurt are also popular ice-cold dessert products.
